Selected by the AA from pubs and restaurants listed in the new AA Restaurant and Pub Guides for 2005. The seafood categories were sponsored by Seafish.

"Ee-Usk impressed the judges" with their excellent use of seafood in their menus and dedication to serving the finest fish and shellfish dishes in the country.

The Good Food Guide includes reviews of 1353 Restaurants in 667 locations covering 142 types of Cuisine.

Entries are based on anonymous inspections, supported by feedback from readers, to give a balanced view of what a restaurant is really like. Included are descriptions of the food, wine, atmosphere and service as well as details of opening times, prices, disabled access, smoking policy and much more.

'A smart addition to the pier with its harbour proximity; excellent views of the bay add a relaxing charm. Fresh seafood menus with daily specials'.

Now in its 8th edition -- and published in association with Rémy Martin -- the only UK guide focused on places that 'real' people eat in - that is to say pubs, curry houses and chippies as well as the formal country house hotels and temples of gastronomy beloved by other guides. It becomes ever-more comprehensive, covering over 1,600 restaurants in the UK.

Best Place to Eat - Ee-Usk Restaurant, Oban The objective of the UKFX awards scheme is to encourage high quality products and service throughout the local tourist industry. The awards are based on nominations from visitors, followed by a careful judging process.

At the awards presentation ceremony, Derek Somerville, Managing Director of FX Foreign Currency Services emphasised the achievement of the award winners, saying:

'We are delighted to be in a position to reward those establishments and communities who recognise the importance of customer care and providing quality products. The record level of nominations received shows that such excellence is truly appreciated by visitors to the area.'
